‘Last Supper’ Mystery

Was the Last Supper held on Maundy Thursday? That’s the $64,000 question of the day. Unfortunately, a new reasearch released earlier today claimed that it took place one day earlier — on a Wednesday. Are you kidding me?!

Professor Colin Humphreys, a scientist at the University of Cambridge, suggeasts introducing a fixed date for Easter.  If that’s the case, it’s time to say good-bye to Good Friday.

Humphreys’ findings help explain how the interpretations of the Last Supper by Mark, Matthew, and Luke differ from that by John, both using opposing calendars.  But nonetheless, both findings help explain how it coincide with the Jewish celebration of the Seder, or Passover. I, for one, am puzzled. I thought we had settled on the date for Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter several centuries ago.

The modified calendar sees Easter on the first Sunday in April.
